Rådarna - The Fomorian Horde (2021), Blackened Folk Metal

  1. Hello, my name is Rikard Falk, I'm one of the two writers and the main producer of this album. I'm happy you enjoyed and reviewed it, since I'm not russian did the criticism translate to lack of hits or lack of drums? Or was it a lack of something else? Eitherway I want to take all criticisms to heart and make the second release better. In this album we wrote all songs in a row and whatever came out landed on the album, for the next album there will be a selection process so that only the best and most fitting lands on the album. And we hope this will raise the quality over all.

    2. Thanks, and thank you for your review. This will probably be my last post here bur I will respond to some things you said as I understood them. I have listened to both Trollfest and Alestorm, they are good bands and of course the influence list is longer then just Svartby, Troldhaugen and Finntroll, like if I filled out a list of everyone that influenced me it'd be a long list. Korpiklaani and Equilibrium are two other bands I'd add to that list. But the three I picked are the ones I've listened to the most thus the ones that have influenced me the most. I'm a slow listener like probably the slowest listener you've ever come across, when I like a song or a album I don't go listen to the whole thing in a row and it's only the three bands mentioned where I could name all of their songs cause I had the intense listen over several years. I love folk metal though and I'm definitely not taking away the influence of other bands. Though with the others I haven't listened to their whole discography since I am a slow listener but I am more for a couple of songs, like korpiklaani's midsummer night! I do intend to get into all their music but it will probably take me a couple of years, once their influence on my music become more widespread I will mention them. Also while I do see things I could have done better with this album, I also like to say I am proud of what we've accomplished. Like it was only 4 years ago since I set out to make a folk metal album and I think it turned out way better then expected considering it's my first release. I had to pull all production cost out of my own pocket so not having a whole lot of money means it was a hugely massive challenge. I think considering that I want the second album to be more ambitious it'll be a even greater challenge.
But yeah I am glad you liked the album. I'll have to go back to work now but you can bet I'll try my best to make sure to improve and give off a good time.

  2. For me it seems the author is positive about this album, but yes, the last sentence is about hits. It's like lack of something that makes songs hits. This is Ukrainian btw, not Russian.

  3. Oh yeah, I understand it now. Yeah, it's hard to determine what is a hit or not when you write music yourself, like of course we'd hope to make something as good as Trollhammaren or Jaktens Tid but I think if we did write something like that it'd be hard to tell in the process of writing it cause you kinda grow more and more tired of a song the more you work on it. I suppose it all depends on luck in a way and being happy with your songs in the end. If writing a hit was all about hard work everyone would just decide to write nothing but hits. Still we hope to do better with the second release.
